The Settler's Hill Cross Country Course (formerly the Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course) was designed to host large local meets and regional championships.  Built on a recovered landfill, the Course features:

  • an 80 meter wide, curved starting line with 40 starting boxes,

  • a 550 meter starting straightaway and a 250 meter finish straightaway,

  • a 10 meter wide running path on all loops, and

  • common start and finish lines for all distances.

The Course can easily accommodate races with over 300 runners.  The venue includes course options from 1 mile to 10 km by using different combinations of loops.  The most common distances are the high school 3 mile course, the college women's 6 km course, and the college men's 8 km course.  All distances were certified with a steel tape measure in 2022.  The course maps are linked below.

The Course receives no financial support from Kane County or the Kane County Forest Preserve.  Fees from host schools pay about 50% of the annual maintenance and operations costs; the rest of the Course expenses must be covered through sponsorships and spectator admission fees.  All revenue goes directly to the Course.

Thank you for your support!
